How to Solve the Astronaut Boots Dot-to-Dot Puzzle
Every part of a spacesuit has a job to do, and astronaut boots are no exception — built with thick, insulated soles and a tight seal at the top, they're really a small, wearable spacecraft for the feet. This puzzle connects 51 dots to build two chunky space boots, their sturdy soles, and the openings at the top, across five stages. Find dot 1 at the first boot and follow the numbers all the way to mission complete at dot 51.
1–10 — The First Boot
Connect dots 1 through 10 to begin the top and outer edge of the first boot. This opening stretch sets the overall shape for the boot that follows.
Space-suit boots are designed to connect securely to the legs of the suit, forming a completely sealed, pressurised system from head to toe.
11–20 — The First Thick Sole
Continue from dot 11 to dot 20 around the toe and sturdy sole. Keep the outline chunky and rounded, since real space boots are built thick rather than sleek.
Thick soles help insulate an astronaut's feet from surfaces that can swing between scorching heat and freezing cold within the same lunar day.
21–31 — The Second Sole
Follow dots 21 through 31 beneath the second boot. This section mirrors the first sole, so it's a good moment to compare the shapes and keep them matching.
The boots worn on the Moon had deeply patterned soles that left recognisable prints in the lunar dust — prints that, without wind or rain to erase them, are still there today.
32–41 — The Second Boot
Join dots 32 through 41 to shape the heel and outer side of the second boot. Steady curves here keep both boots looking like a matching pair.
Spacesuit footwear must stay flexible enough for astronauts to bend and flex their feet while working, even inside multiple insulated, pressurised layers.
42–51 — Boot Openings and Finish
Complete dots 42 through 51 to finish both openings at the top of the boots. Just ten dots remain — a careful finish completes the full pair.
